FIREWOOD FAQ
WHY KILN-DRIED?
Kiln-dried firewood lights faster, burns hotter, and produces less smoke than traditional wood, thanks to its lower moisture content. This means cleaner fires, less creosote buildup, and reduced chimney maintenance. Ideal for indoor or outdoor use, kiln-dried wood offers consistent quality and better heat every time.
What’s the Difference Between Kiln-Dried, Seasoned, and Heat Treated fireWood?
Kiln-dried firewood is the superior choice for optimal heat and convenience. Unlike seasoned firewood, which can take 1-2 years to properly dry and may have inconsistent moisture levels—sometimes as high as 20%—kiln-dried wood is meticulously dried to moisture levels between 10-20%, ensuring a hotter, longer burn. This means you'll need fewer pieces to achieve the same heat output, saving you time, effort, and money. Plus, kiln-dried wood is free of insects, fungus, and mold, making it cleaner and safer to store indoors. It produces less smoke and emissions, reducing creosote buildup and minimizing the risk of chimney fires. If you’re cooking with wood, you’ll appreciate that kiln-dried firewood won’t impart that unpleasant burnt flavor that seasoned wood sometimes does. Unlike heat-treated wood, which is subjected to lower temperatures and can retain higher moisture levels, kiln-dried wood is consistently dried to optimal moisture levels, enhancing its burning efficiency. Choose kiln-dried firewood—a cleaner, safer, and more efficient option!
HOW DOES DELIVERY WORK?
Your firewood will be delivered in Florida Man, our trusty Ford F550 dump truck (pictured below, in action). We can drop the product on your driveway, parking pad, boulevard, or street. The product is delivered loose. To protect ourselves, our equipment, and your property, we do not drive on grass or hop curbs. Our delivery fees can be found on our main FAQ page, here. We deliver 8AM-4PM Monday-Friday. You do not need to be home to accept the delivery. Your driver will call or text you when they are on their way. We do not stack firewood.
How do i pick up firewood?
We can load firewood in an open-bed truck or trailer (no toppers!), or, you can load the firewood yourself; we will drop your wood in a self-loading bin (pictured below), and you can load it into your vehicle from there.
how is a cord measured?
A full cord of firewood is measured by volume and is traditionally stacked in a neat pile measuring 4 feet high, 4 feet deep, and 8 feet long, totaling 128 cubic feet. When stacked this way, the logs are tightly arranged with minimal air gaps. Variations like a face cord have the same 4-foot height and 8-foot length but are only about 16–18 inches deep, typically measuring one-third of a full cord's volume. Generally, loose firewood takes up about 30-40% more space than stacked wood because of the gaps. We take this into account when loading your firewood to ensure that the amount you order is the amount of wood you’ll have when it’s neatly stacked.
HOW MANY HOURS OF BURN TIME WILL I GET FROM MY FIREWOOD?
Burn time varies by the amount of wood and how frequently you feed the fire. A bundle of six pieces provides roughly 1–2 hours of burn time, ideal for a single evening or quick backyard fire. 1/6 cord can last 8–12 hours spread over several fires, perfect for occasional weekend use. 1/2 cord generally offers 30–40 hours of burn time, ideal for regular fires throughout the season. A full cord provides around 80–100 hours, enough to fuel frequent fires for weeks in a fireplace, BBQ, sauna, or fire pit.
